Privacy

Almost nothing
about you.

That's what this website knows, and that's on purpose. Here's exactly what it counts, what happens to the emails you send the club, and how to have yours deleted.

The short version

No cookies

Nothing is saved in your browser, and nothing follows you to other websites.

No accounts

There's nothing to sign up for, and no database of members' names.

Forms don't send

They write an email in your own email app. Nothing goes anywhere until you press send.

A grown-up reads it

Every email to the club is read by a grown-up before anyone answers.

What this website knows

Nothing that tells us who you are. No accounts, no cookies, no ads, and nothing from social media or advertising companies.

Visit counts
We count visits with Vercel Web Analytics: how many, which pages, which countries, and what kind of device and browser. It doesn't use cookies. To avoid counting the same visitor twice in one day, it makes a scrambled code from your connection and throws it away after 24 hours. We only ever see totals.
Button counts
We also count how often the “Open my email app” buttons are pressed, along with the animal or country that was chosen, which is only ever a value from our own list. Never your name, and never anything you write yourself.
Hosting
The site is hosted by Vercel. Like any web host, its servers see your IP address so they can send you each page. Vercel's privacy notice

The forms and the membership card

The Join form and the Register your club form don't send anything to this website. They write an email and open it in your own email app, so nothing goes anywhere until you press send. If your email app doesn't open, the form shows you the email to copy instead.

The membership card works the same way: the name you type stays on your device. It isn't sent or saved, and closing the page forgets it.

Emails you send us

They arrive at hello@clubfoca.com, the club's inbox, which runs on Apple's iCloud Mail (Apple's privacy policy).

Who reads them
Right now, a parent of Luca and Fabio, the club's founders, reads and answers every email. If that ever changes, this page will say so first.
What we use them for
Answering you, welcoming new members, fixing facts you tell us about, and adding clubs to the register.
What we never do
Publish your email address, your full name or your school's name. Pass your email on to anyone. Add you to a mailing list.
How long we keep them
We keep emails so we know who's in the club. Ask any time and we'll delete yours. You don't need a reason.

For kids, and for grown-ups

Club Foca is run by kids, for kids. So ask a parent or guardian before you email us. That's a club rule.

On this website we only show first names and last initials, and only with a parent's permission.

Parents and guardians: to find out what we have about your child, correct it, or have it deleted, email us and we'll take care of it.

Other websites

Our fact sources and the places our recordings come from, like NOAA, the IUCN Red List, Wikimedia Commons and Freesound, are separate websites with their own privacy policies. Following a link takes you there.

Questions, or want something deleted?

Email hello@clubfoca.com. If we ever change how we handle anything, we'll update this page first.
